Born in New Jersey in 1945, Frank Brugos' quest to express his natural talent has been a long and varied journey. Frank received the first scholarship ever offered by the Newark School of Fine Art, where he studied under noted artists, Joseph Dee, Hans Weingarten, Charles Waterhouse, Samuel Breecher, and Howard Hardy. After obtaining his diploma in illustrastion, he studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art, where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. After his formal schooling, Brugos went to New York City, where he created illustrations for national magazines such as Cosmopolitan, Redbook, Penthouse, and Outdoor life. He also illustrated children's books for prestigious Golden Books and educational giant Troll Associates. Many Madison Avenue Advertising Agencies also commissioned him to create artwork for their national accounts. During this time he taught illustration at the Newark School of Fine Art and eventually took a position as Senior Art Director within several of the world's largest Advertising Agencies. |

It was during this time that Frank stopped illustrating and began to pursue his passion for fine art and a long search for a style of his own. It has been a search that has taken him from abstraction through hyper-realism, from subjects as diverse as figures, landscapes, and nature. |
